A made-to-measure wallpaper mural is hung like a standard non-woven wallpaper, with one difference that matters: each panel carries a unique piece of the design. The hanging order and the check before pasting determine the result. Here is the method, based on the instructions of our print workshop in Germany.

1. Measure the wall
- Measure the width and height of the wall in several places (top, middle, bottom): walls are rarely perfectly straight. Use the largest value.
- Measure in centimetres, from the ceiling to the floor or to the top of the skirting board, and from one corner to the other.
- Enter these dimensions in the configurator on the product page, then choose the framing of the design: the preview shows the division into 75 cm panels and their hanging order.
- Tick “Hanging margin” in the configurator: the wallpaper is printed with an extra 2.5 cm on each side (5 cm in total per dimension), which you trim with a utility knife at the ceiling and along the skirting board. This extra area is included in the price shown.
- Non-standard wall, several walls, a wet room (bathroom) or another special project: ask us for a quote.
2. Check the panels dry, before any pasting
On delivery, unroll each panel on a clean, flat surface and check them all: design, colours, numbering. Once a panel has been pasted, a defect that was visible before hanging can no longer be claimed — this is the workshop's rule as well as ours. Only use rolls from the same production run.
3. Tools and materials
- Adhesive for non-woven wallpaper (the workshop tests its papers with Henkel's “Metylan direct”; any non-woven adhesive is suitable)
- Bucket, stirring stick, paste roller or pasting brush
- A sharp utility knife and a cutting straightedge
- Spirit level or plumb line, pencil
- Soft clean cloth, sponge, stepladder
Do not use: a wallpaper spatula (rigid smoother), a brush, a seam roller or a plastic roller. Pressing too hard deforms the material, and the spatula scratches the surface. Use a soft damp cloth or a foam rubber roller instead.
4. Prepare the wall
The surface must be dry, sound, smooth, clean, even in colour and evenly absorbent. Remove all old wallpaper completely, fill any holes and sand down rough spots. If the wall absorbs unevenly or is powdery, apply a water-based primer. On a wall of uneven colour, a pigmented primer prevents differences in shade from showing through. On a non-absorbent surface, first hang a renovation non-woven lining.
5. Paste the wall, not the panel
Welltouch wallpaper has a non-woven backing: it is hung using the paste-the-wall technique. Apply the adhesive directly to the wall, generously and evenly, over a width slightly wider than one panel. The panel is hung dry, with no soaking time.
Immediately wipe off any adhesive that seeps out with a soft damp sponge: once dry, it remains visible.
6. Hang the panels in order
- Follow the numbering: it appears at the top of each panel. Hang from left to right, panel 1 first, always with the numbering at the top. A panel hung upside down breaks the pattern match.
- Hang the first panel perfectly plumb, using the level or the plumb line: all the following panels line up with it.
- Hang each panel from top to bottom, edge to edge (without overlapping), into the fresh adhesive.
- Smooth with the soft damp cloth or the foam roller, always from the centre towards the edges, until no air bubbles remain.
7. Trim the excess
Trim the excess directly on the wall, at the ceiling and along the skirting board, using the straightedge and a sharp utility knife. Change the blade often: a blunt blade tears the non-woven material instead of cutting it.
8. Let it dry
While it dries, avoid overheating the room and avoid draughts: drying too quickly can open the seams between panels. Hanging with a pasting machine is not covered by the workshop's warranty (dimensional stability and damage to the material).
And to remove it one day?
On a well-prepared wall, a non-woven wallpaper can usually be stripped dry, without leaving any residue. Otherwise, dampen it, let the water soak in, then remove it: non-woven is much stronger than paper. Offcuts and old wallpaper go in household waste.
The recommendations above are general guidelines. Site conditions and the state of the surface remain beyond our control: if in doubt, test on a small area.

Frequently asked questions
Should I add a margin to the wall dimensions?
Enter the exact dimensions of the wall and tick “Hanging margin” in the configurator: 2.5 cm is added on each side so you can trim neatly. This area is included in the price.
Can it be hung in a bathroom?
Welltouch is not designed for wet rooms: they require a specific wallpaper. Ask us for a quote for your project.
Should I paste the wallpaper or the wall?
The wall. Welltouch has a non-woven backing: the adhesive goes on the wall and the panel is hung dry.
Which adhesive should I use?
An adhesive for non-woven wallpaper. The workshop tests its papers with Henkel's “Metylan direct”, but any non-woven adhesive is suitable.
Can I use a wallpaper spatula?
No: it scratches the surface. Use a soft damp cloth or a foam rubber roller, without pressing too hard.
In what order should the panels be hung?
From left to right, following the numbering printed at the top of each panel, always with the numbering facing up. The order is also shown in the configurator before you order.
What if a panel is damaged on delivery?
Do not hang it. Check all the panels dry before you start, and contact us with a photo at contact@cassili-home.com. A defect visible before hanging can no longer be claimed once the panel has been pasted.
