Poster Sizes Explained: A1, A2, A3 in cm and inches
Choosing the right poster size is one of the most important — and most overlooked — steps in wall art. A beautiful print can lose all its impact if it is the wrong scale for the wall. This guide explains the four sizes offered by Cassili-home, with dimensions in both centimetres and inches, so you can choose with confidence.

Poster sizes explained: A1, A2 and cm formats
Poster sizes come in two families: the international “A” series (A1, A2, A3…) and standard metric sizes (30×40 cm, 50×70 cm). Cassili-home offers four sizes to suit every space and project:
- 30×40 cm (about 12×16 in) — a compact size, ideal for small spaces, shelves, desks, or gallery walls made of several prints.
- A2 — 42×59.4 cm (16.5×23.4 in) — a versatile mid-size format, perfect for a bedroom, an entryway, or a hallway.
- 50×70 cm (about 19.7×27.6 in) — a generous, high-impact size, ideal above a sofa or a double bed.
- A1 — 59.4×84.1 cm (23.4×33.1 in) — a large statement size, the centrepiece of a living room or dining room, creating a true focal point.
To choose by room, see our guides to Mediterranean wall art for the living room and wall art for small spaces.
Matching the size to the room and the wall
For a main living-room wall above a sofa, choose 50×70 cm or A1 for strong visual impact. Above a bed, A2 or 50×70 cm strike an excellent balance. For an entryway or hallway, A2 or 30×40 cm fit naturally without overwhelming the space.
A useful rule of thumb: the print should span roughly two-thirds of the width of the furniture or wall space beneath it. Our arched wall art prints are especially striking in the larger sizes.
Building a gallery wall with mixed sizes
Mixing several sizes creates dynamic, personal compositions. Lay the prints out on the floor first to test different arrangements before hanging. For example, pair one central 50×70 cm with two 30×40 cm prints on either side for a balanced gallery.
Keep the spacing between prints consistent — usually 5 to 10 cm (2 to 4 in). See our full guide to creating a gallery wall with neutral minimalist prints.
Poster or framed: which finish to choose?
Every size is available in two finishes: Poster (the print alone, to frame yourself) or Framed (delivered with a light wood frame, ready to hang). The Poster version offers more flexibility to choose your own frame. The Framed version is ideal for an instant result, with no need to hunt for a compatible frame.
For Mediterranean interiors, the light wood frame blends beautifully with natural materials and warm neutral walls. For more on this choice, see our guide to poster or framed: how to choose.

Mistakes to avoid when choosing a poster size
- Going too small — a lone 30×40 cm print on a large living-room wall gets lost. When in doubt, size up.
- Not measuring first — take the dimensions of the wall and the furniture beneath it before ordering. Mock it up with kraft paper if needed.
- Ignoring hanging height — the centre of the print should sit about 150–160 cm (59–63 in) from the floor, at eye level.
- Mixing sizes without a plan — in a gallery wall, one dominant central size flanked by smaller prints creates a balanced composition.
FAQ — Poster sizes
What is the size of an A1 poster?
An A1 poster measures 59.4×84.1 cm, or 23.4×33.1 inches (594×841 mm). It is a large statement size, ideal as the centrepiece of a living room or dining room. At Cassili-home, the A1 format is our most impactful size — it creates a true focal point and works especially well with our arch and corridor prints.
What is the size of an A2 poster?
An A2 poster measures 42×59.4 cm, or 16.5×23.4 inches (420×594 mm) — a versatile mid-size format that suits bedrooms, entryways and hallways. It is our most popular size: large enough to make an impact, compact enough to fit most walls without overwhelming the space.
Which poster size should I choose for a living room?
For a living room, choose 50×70 cm or A1 above the sofa. The print should span about two-thirds of the width of the sofa. For a gallery wall composition, pair a central 50×70 cm with two 30×40 cm prints on either side for a balanced, dynamic arrangement.
What is the difference between Poster and Framed?
Poster is the print alone, to frame as you like. Framed is delivered with a light wood frame, ready to hang — ideal for an instant, cohesive result in line with the Mediterranean aesthetic of Cassili-home. For a gift, the Framed version is always the safest choice: no frame-hunting required.
